Drawings and sketches don't just exist in isolation, so this web site puts in context the circumstances that surround living as an artist, along with the constant challenge of not getting snowed under by the mundane, which conspires to convince us of the lie that we are all less than the Divine.

So every mark I make, no matter how humble, is a victory.

Now to avoid being pretentious I'll just get on with sketching....

Sketching Adventures

I've a new web site called Sketching Adventures. Guess what it's about?

Please go to Sketching Adventures

Hi,

Many thanks for visiting. I've decided to bring together some of my web sites into one.

So please go to Sketching Adventures to see not only more work but what I hope is a more interesting context for my work.

Thanks,

Barry McCullough

Second sketch of laneways of Skibbereen

Well this is the second sketch I did on yesterdays 'very cold day'. As a result of not wrapping up properly, I spent today at home trying to keep 'flu like symptoms at bay.

Moral of this story. Stay warm and cozy, but keep sketching.

Back laneways of Skibbereen - West Cork

Back lanes of Skibbereen - West Cork - Ireland
Headed out from the studio today to do some quick sketches. Freezing cold, grey day. Lost contact with my hands after a short while.

Snowing so thick I could hardly see ten feet in front of me, the crunch of snow underfoot, everything soft and muffled, night drawing on.

Er not really! but it was really cold.... brrrrrrr

Great getting out to sketch. It's been ages. More soon.
